Hx of Abortion has no bearing on future pregnanies at all if it was performed by a legit medical professional. If you are a healthy ind'l esp with a healthy reproductive system then conceiving should be as easy as another person who hasn't had an abortion. Don't worry if all that I have asked here is not an issue! Your body has had enough time by now to recover from the abortion. Good luck!!!

As long as the abortion was done correctly, you shouldn't have any problems conceiving. If it was done incorrectly, you may have scar tissue in the uterus making it difficult for a fertilized egg to implant. If you went to a medical doctor and a place that is well known and does a lot of these procedures, you should be fine. I didn't have any problems conceiving, but I waited 3 years to get pregnant again......Good luck to you!

If the procedure was done by a trained doctor your risk for problems are about 1%. I had one four years ago, miscarried a blighted ovum (not due to the previous abortion) and had a D&C last summer, and am now almost 8 weeks pregnant with a planned pregnancy.

Most of the people that haven't been there or disagree with your previous action will flat out lie or spout off misinformation that they WANT to believe - it still doesn't make it true. Good luck to you!

From Planned Parenthood:

"Safe, uncomplicated abortion should not affect your ability to have a child in the future. In future pregnancies, IT DOES NOT:

* cause birth defects
* cause premature birth or low infant birth weight
* make ectopic (not in the uterus) pregnancy more likely
* make miscarriage more likely
* make the risk of infant death more likely"

There should be no reason that you cannot conceive just fine. But It would be better if you could wait at least another 6 to 8 mths. As there would be far less chance of any problems.
It was only last May, and that's no even a year.Your body takes a few months to totally heal,even though you feel everything is fine.
Ultimately the decision is yours and your partners, alone.

Some people have a dozen of those things are still able to conceive no problems while others have only one and are doomed to never conceive again. You should talk to your doctor about this! Good Luck!

I have had two D& C's both due to misscarriage. If your procedure was done well with no complications there is no worry about conception again. I had two after my first D&C and am pregnant now after my second D&C (4 months ago)
My doctor said I could start trying to conceive immediately after the D&C...Good luck, I am truely sorry for your previous loss.

It's not likely that you will have difficulties conceiving due to the abortion unless you have had more than one or you have scar tissue built up. However, I myself found it's not as easy as most think to get pregnant so it may take time and have nothing to do with your abortion. See the link below for more info.

I had an abortion in oct. 2005 and have been on birth control ever since and i still managed to conceive.I am pregnant now. Having an abortion can (sometimes) complicate being able to concieve but if the procedure was done accurately and there is minimal scar tissue You should have no problem.

Yes, abortion may make it more difficult for you to conceive:

I am sorry, but there is nothing you can do to "undo" the physical effects that abortion may have had on your body. I would, however, encourage you to get right with God. To find out how, please consider going through the free online post-abortion study available at http://www.healinghearts.org It is excellent. You will be paired with an email counselor, most likely a woman who has aborted a baby herself. They can help.

Q | Will I be able to get pregnant after my abortion?
A | There is no evidence of fertility or childbearing problems after on abortion. Having an abortion does not interfere with your ability to have children in the future.
