I have a question. I have a friend named Greg. I recently made a few mistakes in my life that Greg found out about. (Stupid things) He told me that he knew, so I broke down and started to cry. (I'm having other parental issues with where I am going to highschool next year)

People always tease Greg and I. "Oh you two are going out! ooooo" Months ago, Greg and I agreed that we would only be friends. But when I broke down, he put his arms around me. But he wouldn't look me in the eye the rest of the day. Do you think he likes me? I hope not, cause I only want to be friends. Can I have some people's opinion please?

The best thing I can tell you is he definetely cares alot about you. In what way may not quite be clear to you or even HIM yet! He may be totally confused about what he wants! After all he is a guy! lol Take things slow and you may never know where it may lead! The best and longest loves begin as a strong friendship! My hubby and I have been together 22 years now and we began as friends in 10th grade in highschool! I would never go out with him cuz he was my best friends brother- and love was under my nose the whole time and I didnt even know it! We r still very happily married all these years later! Be yourself with him- lean on him when u need too and be sure to be there for HIM also! One thing can lead to another and the next thing u know- u r in love! Dont worry about others teasing you- thats just a part of life that will always be there! People r just like that! Just smile and walk away! Good luck to u sweetheart! I do think u stand a good chance as long as u continue to give him the real you and your heart!

It sounds like he's trying his best to be a wonderful, supportive friend. So, to me, it sounds like he does not like you in the "let's go out" sort of way. But if you're wondering/afraid of that happening, just talk to him and make sure that both of you are still just good friends. It sounds like you're really close, so that should not be as embarrassing or hard as it might sound. Just kinda be like, "Hey Greg, come here. I gotta ask you a question." Then just talk about it and I'm sure it'll all be fine.

If you and Greg agreed to only be friends and if he is honorable and a man of his word, then he is bound by his word to not escalate your relationship beyond friendship. He may have deeper feelings for you, but as a friend he will have to keep them to himself. I think that it is ok to comfort a friend wilth a hug. I would not read anything into his lack of eye contact after the hug.

If he didn't look you in the eyes, he is probably respecting the decision to stay as friends.
