My little boy's heart rate hovers around 160 and I am 31 weeks pregnant. But by alot of the other old wives tales I was having a boy and they are right some times. It's just for fun I am one of those people that have fun with it. Good Luck!!!!

I know the slower the heart beat is suppose to be a boy because that is how the doctors perdicted what parents were going to have before I was born. The doctors told my parents I was a boy and so they were expecting a boy till I poped out and turned out to be a gilr who just has a slow heart beat. I do belive my son had a faster heart beat as well when I was pregnant with him but I am pregnant with my second child so I will post the heart beat when I find out how fast it is.

It is a fun way of guessing and in my opinion works..Sometimes it is the opposite but for my sister in law it worked and with my 2 kids it worked also. My sons heartbeat was 136 and my daughters was 160. So I give this wives tale a thumbs up....Im waiting to see my doctor to do the same thing again.

I wish it were that simple. My boys always had higher heart rates when they were smaller fetuses. I'm guessing that is because they still had room to do cartwheels in there. I've got four boys and it was never unusual for their heart rates to be pretty high one visit and pretty low the next. They always seemed to range between 138-164. I kept pretty close track with my first one 11 years ago in a pregnancy journal and wrote down that the first time we heard it, it was 168!!
I just started calling him Bailey Elisabeth until a few months later when he became Bailey Douglas.

well for 2 out of 3 it was right on me. But.... my third had a heart rate of 150 something and three sono's decided it was a girl - He was born and HE was a boy! Not even sonograms can tell sometimes.
It was a nice surprise though, even though I had nothing for a boy and everything had already been washed and put up. It was still a nice surprise.

my son had a lower heart beat rate and the midwife was sure he was a boy, i didn't have a clue so was a lovely surprise when he came out a little fella.
I'm having a boy this time and his heart rate is also on the lower scale so who knows it may be true.
like you say its harmless fun.
im also carrying him low, have great skin and crave for savory food which are all suppose to mean boy plus 4 magpies seem to follow me!!! lol

My son's heartrate was always up around there. On the other hand, my daughter's was always down around 130. Completely backwards from the old wives tale!
