I have a Mirena IUD and I am currently taking Lexapro for Post Partum Depression. I have within the last few months started gaining weight fast even though I am watching what I eat daily and walking every day. Does anyone know about either of these causing this problem?

LEXAPRO---OH MY GOSH!!!!! The same thing happened to me! I gained about 30 pounds in a few months!!! I quit taking it about six months ago and I am still struggling to get the weight off. That's definately your cause right there! I personally quit taking anything period, because I didn't want to deal with the possibility of gaining more weight. I have been just fine. But, you might need to be on something...I don't know. If you do, I would talk to your doctor immediately about switching to something else. Hope this helps! : )

Lexapro is not usually known for causing weight gain, but the Mirena certainly can. Suggest alternative method of birth control.

I know for a fact that some antidepressants do cause weight gain - perhaps you might want to consider switching to a medication where weight gain is not a common side effect

I do know that SOME anti-depression medication can-cause weight gain,
But you can ASK your doctor if you need a mood-stabolizer in addition to the anti-depressant, if you do, ask if the doctor can prescribe : " Topamax " it is a mood stabolizer, and it sometimes helps to lose weight.
whatever you do, do NOT stop your medication withOut your doctors permission. It is very important .

Stop the medication and inform the doctor who gave you this drug.
