John Bradshaw Layfield: $786,000
Booker T: $775,000
Randy Orton: $711,000
Edge: $704,000
Trish Stratus: $618,000

That may give you an idea of what wrestlers get paid. I'm sure it's a bit different for 2007.

When WCW was around wrestlers were getting paid a lot more. In 1998 salaries looked like this in WCW:

Hulk Hogan: $11,705,000
Bret Hart: $7,102,000
Sting: $6,940,000
Ric Flair: $6,706,000

WWE wrestlers are have contracts with a downside guarantee. What that means if that regardless of how often they are on television or pay-per-view they will receive that amount of money. Some downside guarantees are higher than others obviously, but the lowest I have ever seen would be like $80,000 or so. Above that, wrestlers are given pay-per-view bonuses based on the gate of the event and the amount of pay-per-views sold. Additionally, wrestlers get a cut of their merchandise that is sold. Steve Austin is a classic example of someone who masterminded his own merchandise. Austin frequently would design new shirts to be sold and take them to management for approval. The other side of this is that wrestler's do not get health benefits as they are treated as independent contractors. Furthermore, most wrestlers have to pay their own travel expenses or cover the difference for any travel allowance that WWE does give. Many wrestler choose to maintain a regular residence in Florida because that state does not have a state income tax. Overall, a lower tier-guy who makes it to PPV can expect to make around $100,000 to $250,000 per year. Upper card guys can bank on around $500,000 to $750,000 per year while main eventers see more than $1 million per year. This is radically different from WCW where "guaranteed contracts were given where many wrestlers were making seven figures who were nowhere near the main event. Today, very few stars make several million a year.

Wrestlers HAVE to be paid a certain amount of silly money as their life insurance premiums are sky-high.
Obviously, as part of their jobs, there is a huge margin of error involved in mistiming a move that results in (in the case of Droz)a career-ending or (in the case of Owen Hart) life-ending injury.
Not to mention the medical bills incurred by even one or two minor injuries a year (or worse, one or two major ones in a career).

I know that HHH is the highest earner, so he can easily afford his quads surgery privately.

There is no flat rate. But they never ever ever go hungry.

They get $200 in every city they visit for spending cash, a salary based on the contract, a cut of merchandise sales, bonues for pay per view appearances, titles they "win", etc.

In short, "quite a bit."
