I bought a DVD that I know for sure works. I have seen it play on other DVD players but it will not play on my laptop. I know for sure my laptop plays DVD's because I have watched many movies before on it and still can do so. It is just this one movie that refuses to play. I double click the DVD / E:\ drive and it's like there isn't a movie in there, it will not show any files on the disk nor will it play???? WTF!!!

Some (usually older models) DVD players are not compatible with all DVDs. Maybe your laptop player is not as forgiving of dust or scratches as the other players. You say it is purchased but if it is one you copied it could be that its a +R and your player (if old) only plays -R.
Possibly one of these could be your problem but without much more information there is just no way someone could tell you the exact solution.

you might have to encrypt the dvd...you can buy programs or download them and they will do the job.
