Am i in the wrong job, here in a little town in the west midlands,we have a councilor who is being given early retirement, she only as 18 months to go before she would have retired anyway, but the local council as decided that due to poor performances by the council and person concerned being the leader of that council, it was decided to give her early retirement with an enhanced pension and a payoff of £75.000. This surly is the gravy train, for councilors at our expense..I myself can't afford to pay towards a pension, yet 28% of my council tax goes to pay for councilors pensions, and their fat redundancy payoffs....I will now drop out of work and get on the gravy train, while i claim unemployment benifits and all that goes with it, no council tax to pay, just to know that i will not be contributing to these parasite councillors pensions
will add another 10 years to my life.. A nearby council (Cheltenham) have voted an allowance for all their councillors to have a makeover Its true..

Here in Hastings, East Sussex, we have the best Council money can buy, and that is exactly what happens.

The local crooks bribe the Council, and depending on who you are, the pass in favour or against you.

One example of daylight crookery, was a bike path, along the seafront, two white lines, eith side of the 'occasional' signs saying "only for bikes". The length of this little scam is roughly a mile to 1.25 miles, yet the cost was, so they claim, £247,000, and that was the lowest bid.

Go look at it some time, and get experienced people to do it over a one week period, maybe 1.5 weeks, and charge them £47,000, and make a damned good profit.

This being the case, who pocketed the £200,000. Council refuses to explain or release all bids.

That really doesn't sound right you know, retiring councillors never get payoffs like that. You don't "retire" as a councillor anyway, you either resign or you get voted out at an election. There might be more to this story. Was she a council employee as well as an elected member? That = naughtiness.

These people - http://www.standardsboard.co.uk/ - might investigate it for you, they're often going round suspending and fining local councillors for being naughty.

Well, at least now you can vote for someone who might be halfway competent at the job!
