Find the off-beat neighborhoods that aren't getting all the attention as the new "hip" places to be. I'd suggest Lower Queen Anne and Green Lake. Great little enclaves that are established; have moderate traffic; sense of community; nice mix of new comers and locals; plenty of shops and restaurants; strong nightlife; and specific local entertainment venues (theater, movies, etc.).
Spend some time in both, pick your favorite and settle in. I'm sure if you put yourself out there you'll have a nice group to socialize with soon. Good luck -- I loved living in Lower Queen Anne for five years. -- Andy
