Yes, isn't it funny that they voted "for" war and are now going back on their vote because they see something to use as political leverage.

They have not offered any solutions, just criticisms.

It is easy to talk from the cheap seats and monday morning quarterback.

John Kerry's botched joke is not an example of the Democrats opposing war to win popularity. What does that even have to do with it. The Democrats oppose the war because it has been shown that they were lied to in order to get their initial support for the war.

No. I think they are opposing the war because it was an unjust and illegal war in the first place. I think they will win votes, but only becasue a lot of people share that opinion. Iraq is a mess. We never should have gone in in the first place. I'm English and by "we" I mean the UK too. Tony Blair and George Bush didnt listen to popular opinion, didn't wait for the appropriate UN resolution or back up and havent found a single weapon of mass destruction.

It's time to admit you were wrong boys....

That's part of the reason but not the only reason.

I also believe Bush is raising the troop levels to win popularity and help his party win elections.

The political polls are telling him he has to make a change so he is making a change. Raising troop levels is the only change he can make without admitting that almost everyone in the world knew better than him that the Iraq invasion was a sucker bet.

They are voting there views...popularity has nothing to do with it at this point, as the Dem's got that in the November election...and many reps are leaning with the Dem's on this issue as well. As far as the statement s about *they voted for it...now against it*..The reasons for going to war in the first place that were presented...and voted on based on these reasons ...turned out to be false.........no weapons of mass destruction were there....never found, I am pretty sure that they would have found them by now! Once the cat was out of the bag, yes, many changed their minds...too bad we were not told the truth at the onset, things may have been very different. Remember....the rest of the world wasn't so convinced by the mass destruction intelligence...George messed up, and he knows it.

well in today's headlines, they say 70% appose the war, so I guess that makes them being Democratic, as in imposing the will of the people

The republicans asked for a bill to give another huge tax break to the rich and included in the bill to include body armor, which they did not agree with, the democrats repeatedly sent individual bills up from the beginning to allot money for body armor, and the republicans turned them down, I am sorry but a true story,

I believe so. Many of them voted for it, but as soon as it went sour, they opposed it.

For those who say the Democrats care about the american people, and soldiers.....

Explain why they voted against new body armor. Wonder if that would have curbed the 3000 deaths they love to sling at the media.

I've been against the war from the start, and I'm not running for anything.

I think that many politicians are sincerely against the war. Why not? It was and continues to be a bad idea.

The key to winning is finding the pulse or perception of the masses and aligning your views with that perception.
