Well, as a moderate Democrat, I think that the Democrats should worry about 3 "I"'s: Iraq, Illegals and International Affairs. I swear that if no Democrat Pres candidate is tough on illegal immigration, I might vote Libertarian because I'm fed up that the country everybody loves to hate has to maintain people that aren't even legal immigrants. I have some Chilean blood but I think that fair is fair. What we could do is have illegals work here from 9 to 5 and they go home at the end of the day, with a van heading to the border and having Mexican officials wait to take them home (I'm not indirectly attacking Mexicans but all illegals) and the next day do the same thing. I'm no bigot because my dad marched for Civil Rights during the 60s and I really love having immigrants come to the States but they should know that they have to respect our laws. Thanks!

I had to laugh when I read Dem4Life's comments about sour grapes. Give me a break! Boo-hoo......we lost the 2000 election - it must have been stolen!! Whine, snivel....we lost the 2004 election - it must have been stolen! Leading up to the 2006 election, boo-hoo the election will be rigged.....
Then,
Suddenly
MAGICALLY
The voting system in this country is fully repaired and functional....Democrats won. Do you really not see the complete hypocrisy there??
As to the original question, no. They won't do anything but complain. Neither party does much of anything besides finger-point and complain.

They have two years to accomplish something significant. And raising the minimum wage isn't it.
Bear in mind the real reason they have the power is because Moderate and Conservative Democrats ousted some Republicans. Maybe there is hope for the Democratic party of old days. You know what I'm talking about the party of the common man instead of the party of special interests.

I think they will actually try to get things done. They realize that the people are fed up with what has been going on in washington. and that they have been given a temporary repreive. If they screw up and keep politics as usual in Washington, the people will again kick them to the curb. Hopefully the people will then elect a large number of independents to run the country because partisan politics has not been working.

It's the American voters that put them in Congress to do the will of the American voters, and each time they sit in session, let that not be forgotten. Complaining is not a bad move, as it brings to light flawed issues that hurt the American Public. Complaining is, however, useless, if the Democrats don't use their wisdom and courage to act, bring changes and rectify the wrongs on behalf of the American Public.

They'll continue to spin the story so badly through the media that people will finally begin to believe what they say and they'll vote for Hilary or whoever they set on the pedestal of presidental candidate. Then it's up to God to decide how things go.

Yes they will get things done and they have already made progress in the short time they have been in the house and Senate, You need to get over your self pity and grow up because the voters did choose to make this change possible because of the miss fortunes of this present presidential administration.

They've already done a lot in the days they've been there. There's a new stem cell bill being debated. There's also the minimum wage bill they're debating. And their fighting Bush's Iraq plan.
