A friend of mine recently advised me to consider remove the ring on my little finger as it would send out the wrong message to a gay man. Are there any truths in this? Does it matter which hand the ring is on?

The history of the gay movement has had many 'signals' to advertise one's sexuality - pinkie rings used to be one (along with earrings on certain ears, and the 'hanky code', and most currently the rainbow). But these are no longer in use in the gay community (save for the rainbow, which is now the most common symbol), and these fashion icons have spread to the mainstream culture and have lost any meaning related to sexuality. There's nothing explicitly 'gay' about wearing a pinkie ring, your friend is YEARS behind.

You need a new friend ! Everything is "gay" to someone. People need to get a life ! Mafia members wear pinky rings. You going to call them gay ? Do you like the ring ? Then wear it ! Only a wuss listens to gay comments. If I want to wear a pink shirt, I wear a pink shirt.

I think most people would rely on more than one indication of homosexuality before risking their potential embarassment by being rejected for coming on to someone of a different sexual persuasion. It doesnt rely matter for you if it is or isnt a signal to the gay community, the worst that can happen to you is having someone ask you out! (Unless you live in some godforsaken little backwater redneck town where they beat people up if they think they're gay)

To answer simply, NO there are no gay connotations to wearing a ring on any finger. Many men wear jewelry, almost as much as women do nowadays. Wear it well, and tell your friend to stop being so homo-phobic.

Never heard of that. I've heard of the eyebrow ring myth, the navel tatoo, the tongue ring, etc. But a simple pinkie ring? I mean, Pimps wear those all the time!! lol

No. Those supposed signs have gone far by the wayside too many years back to count.
