Are we so spoiled that we think no one else is entitled to the freedoms that we have the privilege of enjoying everyday? Have we forgotten our most important goal-not only as individuals, but as a nation-Love your neighbor as yourself. Men and women through history have sacrificied themselves for our freedoms and brought us to where we are today--why can't we do the same for the Iraqi people?

Well from what I have read...seen...heard...they are not manning up to the responsibility of taking control of their country.

I could be wrong. I am not there. We as Americans only hear...see....read...what our government wants us to...and I seriously doubt that we get the full story on any of it.

Yes Americans are very selfish... Not only that but we're unbearably vain and self-righteous. Rather than loving our neighbors we try to make them like us - and we're resented for it. There is no one government system that works for everybody, several nations and their peoples prefer theocracy, communism, socialism, etc. We don't invade Canada or other civilized nations trying to turn them into capitalists democratic republics, so why should we force that on the Iraqis?

Also our view of freedom differs from other's views and our freedom only works as a choice, it's not something to be thrust upon people with no explanation. When you've lived most of your life a particular way and then some foreign government comes in and takes over, kills the former leader and then establishes a strange government that is completely alien to you and says you're now "free." You're not generally going to respond well...

Oh and many other countries actually enjoy much more freedom than we do... Take a class on constitutional law and you'll see what I mean.

first of all, the iraqi people never asked us to come there, so i fail to see how it's selfish to not want to force something on someone that they never asked for.

most americans have enough simple common sense to know two things:

iraqis don't want us there.

we won't be getting payback for the 9/11 attacks in iraq.

no matter how much effort is put into making it 'seem' like iraq is the logical outcome of the 9/11 attacks - most americans simply know that not to be the case.

Is that why it's called "Operation Iraqi Freedom?"

We are in two wars because of freedom.

We are defending:

-Women's human and unalienable rights
-Religious freedom
-Our freedom from terrorism
-Ethnic freedoms (kurds, christian, etc.)

We were attacked first.

Do you HONESTLY think Iraq is better now or will be better in the next 10 years since Saddam ??

Come on THINK for God's sake. Use that grey matter between your ears.

1000 people murdered EVERY MONTH is not a sign that everything is Rosie in the garden is it and don't give me that "well me must go through pain to get to the other side" nonsense. I'd like to see what you would say if 1000 Americans were being murdered every month !!

AMERICANS OUT ! NOW !!!

Leave them alone. If they don't want democracy ( I am Spanish and a big supporter of democracy ) then don't force it on them. What right do you have to do that ?

Wow you are so right(laying the sarcasm on thick). We should stop invading Canada and Mexico and love our neighbors. How many more soldiers need to die for the Iraqi people before you are satisfied?

That's right: if more Americans really loved freedom and liberty, they would push the President into withdrawing our forces and letting the Iraqi people decide amongst themselves what they want. It's called SELF-DETERMINATION, and every nation has that right.

Why not help every nation that didn't have the rights we have? We would be able to do that, right? I mean we have all the money and troops in the world? No problem.

I personally want the Iraqi people to be free..free to choose their own religion etc,,,but, they want to fight over the koran, sunni and shiite religionists differ in their ideaologies. I would love to see them have freedom, and safety to walk to the markets, etc...
YEAH IRAQI FREEDOM !!!!! and everyone elses too, in all countries,,including america, freedom to choose our own president should be the number 1 on this list !

GET RID OF ELECTORAL VOTING !!!!!!!!!!!!!

I believe they are entitled to be free, if they choose to be. but when they are fighting against us it is hard to help them. it would be nice if they could have the freedoms and privelages that we have, but i am beginning to wonder if they want it or if it's worth it.
