I have the same problem. My mom has a bad heart and very high blood pressure and just wont stop. My fatherin law even died of lung cancer from smoking. She just won't stop. It is driving me crazy. Just keep asking her to quit i think thats all we can do.

Smoking is not an easy thing to get out of our system, many of us know that smoking is terrible for us,but now it is an addiction some have compared it to a heroin addiction, very hard to kick. I know I have tried to quit many times with no success, your Mom isn't being insensitive or nothing she probably feels like she can't quit right now, giver her some time and she will quit, just don't give up on her and very important tell everyone you know to never start smoking.

same here,I asked my mom like 100 times to stop smoking but it doesn't work.I guess the only person to get your mom stop smoking is her self.Just keep telling your mom how it makes you feel and it's not good for you either to be around her when she does smoke.Good Luck!

One person of 70 quit smoking forever. I think that person is not your mom, it's hard but you can still love your mom if she like smokes.

When she doesn't listen to you about it, take action! When she's away, replace all the ciggarettes with little rolled up pieces of paper bearing anti-smoking messages. Hide them all. If you can possibly do this, try and give her nicotine patches without her noticing. See how she does. Or cut up nicotine pills and slip them into her food. Yes, it's drastic at that point, but you and your mom's health is at risk here!

Smoking is one terrible addiction. You're mom isn't being mean, and it's not that she's not listening to you. I bet that deep down she probably feels guilty that she smokes. But nobody can quit smoking until he or she is ready to do it for him or herself. It's too hard to do. When your mom is ready, she'll quit. I am sorry for you because I know that this hurts you, and you want her to quit because you love her. Don't give up talking with her, but don't get mad at her either. All the best.

your mom is probably really stressed out when you keep asking her to stop smoking just leave her alone. if she wants to smoke she can smoke, she KNOWS it is bad for her she is not retarded. and if she really wanted to stop she would have already so just leave her ALONE.

Your mom is an adult and you are the child. She knows what smoking can do to a person and when she gets ready to quit then she will. Do you listen to her?

As hard as it is to watch someone smoke there life away, you even as her daughter may never be able to peruade her to stop. My mother smokes to. Shes diabetic, has thyroid problems, even had a small heart attack. She still puffs everyday. Until she actually wants to, you have to let it be.
