I saw it tonight with my 12 year old son. The theme (mankind becoming extinct due to people not being able to get pregnant anymore, stumping science) interested us both and the movie got B+ supposedly from both Yahoo users and critics but I don't know, I wasn't that thrilled. It was basically absurd chaos and who was going to betray who next.
My 8 year old son would not stay home with my husband and was crying to come even though I told him he'd be bored. He was mostly bored, and even at 8 he was asking me the same questions I was asking myself!
Such as:
Why doesn't she just tell someone important that she's pregnant so she doesn't jeapardize herself, her baby, the future of mankind, and everyone she's in contact with.
Explain the complications better.
Then at the end everyone stops shooting for 2 minutes while she FINALLY is showing everyone?
Who is Luke and why is he betraying her?
The ending left me and my older son with what!!? kind of ending was that!! They could have at least let Theo see that the girl and the baby was saved -- so his long mission was not fornot (he died before he KNEW the boat came)...
....and after ALL THAT, I wanted to see her and the baby ON the boat, saved, and even better, at the Human Project. And I would have loved to know what the Human project was.
My 12 year old exclaimed, "After ALL this intense shooting Theo's still alive and he doesn't even have 1 gun." We both laughed at that one.
So much was left unsaid and yet all those bullets.... how about a little more on what led up to the total chaos? I'm going to read the user and critic postings on Yahoo movies to get more information, I'm not sure why someone would like it.
I think the trailer sort of summed it up, all the key parts are in it, so no need to see it. The girl, kee, was beautiful, and the only thing nice about the movie. I didn't have a warm fuzzy about Theo even though he was forced into his heroism.
I was disappointed that Juilianne Moore was killed off so early.

Its worth seeing. Its a sad movie but lots of action and shows the hopelessness some people might experience if they saw the human race was becoming extinct. Instead of saving the lives there are the British government has become a police state. There is a lot of gratuitous sympathy for illegal immigrants who are rounded up and put in camps. Basically it shows a grim, ugly dystopian future that has a ray of hope when a child is finally born to an illegal alien after 18 years of no births. You might see a resemblance to the story of Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus trying to escape Herod's wrath.

It's a FANTASTIC movie! The last 10-15 mins are the best.
The movie is basically about the human race disappearing. Women can't get pregnant, so the world basically decides since there is no future, they might as well destroy themselves.
I saw it last Friday (Jan 5) and I wanted to see it again at that moment.

Its like a sci-fi action thriller. photography reminded me of Gears of War.
Lots of shooting and running and touching theme about the last pregnant woman on earth being rescued so the baby can save the human race from extinction.

A very bad, preachy movie, a la angelina jolie. It has a lot of British superiority and liberal self congratulatory statements, with abundant references to sixties music and philosphies. Quite sickeningly manipulative.
