The current GSM is based on TDMA and as you know Europe and Asia are one of the fastest growing in terms of Cellular Network Technology. Here in the US we used the old Cellular Network Technology we are just started the 3G/UMTS or 3.5G/HSDPA. Regarding your Nokia 3230 it is a tri-band meaning it used the network GSM 900/1800/1900. If you want to use your Mobile Phone first check if it is Unlocked or Open Line meaning you can accept other provider. Next checked the provider if they used GSM 900/1800/1900. If they cannot provide the network find other provider or else it is not possible to convert your handset to CDMA.

CDMA- Code Division Multiple Access
CDMA handsets are used to achieve higher speeds and supports more users compared to the older TDMA signalling method of GSM networks( i.e. "normal" handsets. )
If you are switching to CDMA, I think you cannot use Nokia 3230. You can try asking a customer service representative if it is possible to convert it into CDMA.

The most common and most recent digital cellular technology in North America. What differentiate CDMA from other phone technologies is that in order to carry many conversations over one frequency, it sends all communications in groups of bits mixed altogether, but tags each group, belonging to a specific communication, with a different code (CDMA stands for &Code Division Multiple Access&). Therefore, at the other end, each communication can be rebuilt in the correct order, based on the unique codes attached to certain groups of bits.
and rest i dont know that it is possible to convert a simple cell into cdma technology or not?

You cannot convert it to CDMA at all. In India, these CDMA operators sell the handset with their connection. Also, CDMA & GSM are completely different technologies and there is probably only one handset model whichs supports both of these.

If you are based in Hyderabad, sell it to me at dirt cheap price :-)
