I am on kariva. supposed to get period this week, i dont take the dummy pills, the last week ones, is that ok?

asking b/c its already Thursday and still no period. so now i am wondering if i was supposed to be taking the dummy pills?

i was on loestrin(not good!) and this month switch to kariva, i have been on BC since July with no lapse..

You don't need to take the dummy pills, they are usually just sugar. It's stopping the active pills which brings on a period (or withdrawal bleeding - it's not a natural period if you are on hormonal birth control).

If you just changed from another pill it can take up to three months for your body to adjust to the new ones - so you might get breakthrough bleeding, or no bleeding at all. If you are really worried, keep taking the pills as normal, and get a pregnancy test at the end of next week.

You do not have to take the dummy pills. My doc said they are only there so you will stay on track with taking a pill everyday.

did you just not take them, or did you start on the new pack instead? if you just didnt take them then dont worry, you're probably just a little late (especially if you just started taking bc, it can take a few months to get on cycle)

if you skipped the sugar pills and started on the new pack instead, then you skipped your period, you might still get it, and you might spot the rest of the month. i know if i try to skip mine then i usually get it about 4 days late and then just spot until my next scheduled period (so i dont do that anymore)

No. Those are just to help you remember to stay in the habit. It is very common to skip periods when you're on the pill, happens to me all the time.
