If you like historical fiction you would love all the Jeff and Micheal Shaara Books, They are civil war fictions that are primarily based in facts. Some of the books have been turned into motion pictures as well. There are 3 about the civil war 1 About the american revolution (thats the newest) and 1 about the mexican amerian war i believe (its when all the civil war generals all served on the same side its really interesting.
I have also heard great things about the book 1776 but havent read it myself yet...but it sounds like its worth looking into.
The Dante Club is also good....its a murder mystery set in the past and it includes historical figures in the plot. Its a fun read but less historically accurte than the books i previously mentioned.
Enjoy!

I can't think of much biblical fiction, but historical fiction gives you a ton of awesome books you can read!! There's a book called 'Fabiola' that's really incredible, but I can't remember the author's name. Beau Geste by P.C. Wren is an absolutely incredible book about French foreign legionaries. Then you could read books such as 'son of Charlemagne' , and 'outlaws of ravenhurst' both of which are by little known authors, but well worth reading!! anything by Dickens would probably be fun for you, although they are a little slow. Hope some of that was helpful! Happy reading!

If you want a really good book to read, why not read the Outlander series by Daina Gabaldon. This series is historical and also a bit of time travel. Basic storyline is a woman goes to Scotland on a 2nd honeymoon, falls through a set of Standing Stones and finds herself back in the 1700's. She meets and falls in love with someone back then. This also has historical information on the Jacobite War with England and Scotland. This series is really good and I recommend it highly. The first one is Outlander.

A Suggestion -
The Gilded Chamber: a novel of Queen Esther by Rebecca Kohn.
This is an excellently written novel that seems to also follow what is known of Esther and her life! The descriptions of the life, cultures, foods, etc, are very, very well done. It's well-researched.

For pop fiction Bernard Cornwell and Patrick O'Brien are pretty good. For more serious stuff try Alexander Solzenitsyn's August 1914.
