Does anybody know why some children from the Philippines have their bottom teeth coated with silver or metal- or has anybody else ever seen this? Is this a custom in the Philippines ?

Sorry- just to clarify, they are not fillings or crowns- it is the whole of the tooth, on all of the teeth coated with silver

Those are caps. It's dental work and some children in the U.S. have it too. It's usually from decay caused by letting babies and little kids go to sleep with a bottle in their mouths.

Yes, i have seen it. At one time a lot of African people in S-Africa had like gold or silver metal pieces that fitted over the teeth or one tooth. Quite common but must be hell when you drink or eat something cold, must shock the heck out of your teeth.:)))
