I have an employee who has really been acting bizarre. She is my daughter's CNA (certified nursing assistant) sitter. Saturday she shows up 1-1/2 hours late and when I ask her what happened, she says she got lost with time in the grocery store. WTF?
Yesterday she couldn't come in earlier than usual b/c of daughter's dentist appointments. I understood and said to come in when she could. 3pm came - no show. No phone call, nothing. I'm on bedrest b/c of high blood pressure with pregnancy in the final weeks and I really have been stressing out. My blood pressure is horrible. I explained to her on Saturday that I need for her to be here and to call if something happens or make other arrangements to be here for me. I called the nursing co that I hired her through. They talked to her this am and she said she got a boil on her face after child appt, swoll up and the doc gave her pain meds which knocked her out. She told her sister to call me but sis never did. I don't believe it

I need a CNA b/c my daughter has Cerebral Palsy and developmental delay. She's hard to handle sometimes and I'm in week 35 of pregnancy. My husband is taking care of the business while all this is going on.

I've asked to get a new ad started in the Sunday paper. Now I have to interview people while on bedrest. I choose to interview because my daughter can't talk and speak up for herself and want to make sure I get someone compatible with her.

I'm seriously thinking of another agency because I've had nothing but bad luck with this one.

Don't just get rid of this CNA - change agencies. It is obvious the agency you are using does not screen their employees very well and took inadequate measures (IMO) when you brought your concerns to their attention. In that industry, there are some really great agencies and some very shoddy ones and a shortage of quality workers. Good luck and I hope all goes well for you.

you dont need to give a reasn, just kick her out. SHe is irreponsible and might be a threat to your health, because she is already stressing you out instead if being there for you.

If someone is serious abouttheir job, they wont say oh i lost track of time, or give stupid excuses. Just get rid of her.

KICK HER OUT NOW. And if you can find another company to help you ut would be better, apparently they are not recruiting the right people for the job.
Do your coomplains and everything after you get well.
Now all you need is a bit of peace and security.

Every explanation might be somewhat plausible, but it seems there's a pattern emerging. The CNA is just marking time and isn't interested in taking care of you. If they were, they would be more proactive and you would know they really were apologetic rather than just making excuses. Get a new CNA.

Sounds fishy to me as well. Can't the nursing company simply send out a replacement?

Get rid of the excuse-giving woman. She is not competent. Call the agency and ask for someone else now.

I would tell the agency that if it happens again you want a replacement. Then I would tell the employee the same thing and follow thru.

You don't have to believe it. It is either or true or not. I would expect that you would see a boil on her face next time you see her if she is telling the truth. Get a different one if you don't like her.

sounds like she is not very dependable. If she were she would make sure to contact you if she had any problem. I think you should get someone else for your health and that of your baby
