The last time I took it (4 years and two children later). When I took it before it made me very thin, which I liked. I'm afraid that if I take it now It will make me gain weight. What do you think? Have you had any bad bouts with the depo shot?

it completely screwed my body up. it took me forever to get back right after i got off of it so i wouldn't recomend it to anyone. I may have been overdosed though because i've always been so small.

I had the depo shot the day after my son's birth this year. I couldn't lose any weight despite the fact that I worked almost 80 hours every week. When the three months were done, I got very sick to my stomach, and after the shot was out of my system, everyone around me said they could see a lot of pressure was taken off my face (and fat). But if you lost weight on it before, it might do the same again, as hormones react differently with every body and system. But your system would have changed due to having children again, so... just try it because it is good in that you don't have to take a daily pill.

Everyone is effected by it differently of course. That said... I have a 3 month old, after baby I lost weight ok, got to 130 lbs. and took the shot, now a month later I have balooned rather quickly back up to 147 lbs. Needless to say, I am dropping the shot and going to take something else instead of Depo. from here on. For me it is more than the expected 5 lbs. of weight gain alot of women experience.

I personally loved the depo shot. My weight didn't change, i didn't have to worry about missing a pill...it was just a quick shot in the bum...convinent!

My only problem with it was about losing bone density. Since i am lactose intolerant, and do not get enough calcium in my diet, my doctor suggested that i go back onto the regular pills...and i kinda missed having the monthly. weird

I think it's different for everyone. As long as you eat right and/or exercise you should be alright. Did they tell you about the bone density thing? You shouldn't take it for longer then a couple years otherwise it can cause severe bone loss. I'd be more concerned about that then the weight gain.

I have 2 friends that had the shot, both gained 40 pounds or more. My gyno said he wouldn't give it to a cat. I would not suggest it. If you don't want anymore children have you considered a tubal ligation? Good Luck.

My wife takes it- no probs re weight. She had weight gain when she was on a progesterone pill (forgotten the name and doseage sorry), then Loette- which was good, now Depo-Provera again.
She did complain of tender boobs around period time though.
