I am 34 and I am going through some changes, and I'm stressed about all of it. And I just need to know is if what I am going through is menopause or what. So serious answers only please. For the past few months, I have more periods than normal, dizzy spells, and clotting. Swollen breasts two times a month instead of once. Pain in my lower left abdomen, leaking breasts for 11 years. The gyno is running blood work now, will get results on 18th, but I'm stressed so if anyone is going through the same thing, please tell me. I am definitely a *****, per husband "unbearable" and that is not me! I am usually very outgoing and fun to be with. What is going on with me? They want to do a cat scan for tumor on brain and ultrasound on pelvic area. I have cramps even when I don't have my period. What's up? I feel like I am losing it! Or am I normal? I'm also losing more hair than normal.

HI. I am 38. and I can semi-relate to you. I think I might be starting menopause myself, I have been having hot-flashes and turning on the fan next to my bed because of " nightsweats " , so am going to get myself to the gyn to have it checked out, was told they can do bloodwork that tells wether or not menopause has begun. I am getting checked out for menopause due to the hotflashes and nightsweats, because, for me, I cant judge by irregular periods, because two yrs ago I had to have partial-hysterectomy, ( uteris removed ) because I had really bad case of endometriosis of the uterine lining. which caused me lower abdominal pain, heavy periods, and clotting.
so naturally I cant menstruate anymore, but still get monthly moodswings and cramping, isnt being a woman grand ? LOL.
Anyhow, to get to your question,all I can really share with you is what I know from my own experiences and from what other people have told me of their experiences, I hope this helps : when my mom and my motherinlaw went thru menopause yes they both did have irregular periods, very heavy, bled for longer timeframes;
as for the hair loss, I dont think that relates to menopause but cant say for certain, ask your doctor, I can tell you this though, and it may sound strange, but its true, I recently went thru that, it seemed like every time I brushed my hair or shampood I was losing hair, but I dont have any bold areas so I didnt worry about it, but a couple weeks ago I went to the salon, and I got my hair cut above shoulder length and layered , ( something I hadnt done for me in a long time ) and I have noticed since I got my hair cut I have not been losing anymore hair when I brush and shampoo. so I think that oddly enough, my hair was just too long . and needed to be thinned out a bit.
I now have ovarian cyst, in left ovary, that causes discomfort, but my gyn put me on birth control pills, she said there is something in the birth control pills that actually helps to shrink down cysts. I think its working because as time goes on the discomfort is less and less.
As for your possible tumor on the brain, I dont know anything about those, but I hope you dont have one and I wish you the best of luck and hope you are feeling better soon.
YES you are NORMAL, your just going thru alot right now, and thats enough to cause anyone to be feeling like their losing it.
Good Luck. I hope all works out well for you.

Dear Curious,
First, NO, you are NOT going crazy. It sounds to me like you might be suffering from endometriosis. I had it and my symptoms were very similar. You are wise to see your doctors and rule out every possibility until you find the place where your trouble lies.

Second, be good to yourself until you have learned what is wrong: take your vitamins, do some light exercising, find some great books to read, get back in touch with the Lord and do some good praying, and love your family. Keep yourself as stress free as possible. Chamomile tea is a wonderful nerve settler.. also Valerian drops (find it in the health food stores, GNC, or places of that nature) are good for your sleep and your nerves.

Hang in there, Sweetie, you are on your way to a good resolution of your problems... and hug your honey for being there for you.

Sounds to me like you should have your thyroid checked, sooner that later. I had all the same symptoms and i am going tomorrow to have an ultrasound done on my thyroid because it is swollen, I'm 33. You know stress can also wreak major havoc on your body, it can screw up your periods and cause dizziness. But the hair loss, screwed up periods and moodiness are all signs of thyroid dysfunction, maybe you should ask the doc! Good luck!

The blood tests will determine alot, sounds like endometriosis to me. Stressing about it is what is causing your increase in hair loss, you have to find better coping skills than obviously you have at this point, you are being your own worst enemy. Calm down, relax, don't put the cart before the horse.
