Well, my previous period was on June 2, 2006. I guess I wasn't eating right or something. Then, I finally got it on December 10, 2006. I have unprotected sex with my partner, and now my period is late, again!....Now, I know pregnancy can be a factor, but is it just my period acting up again, or what other problems can there be?

Well, take a pregnancy test, obviously, but a six month gap between periods is not necessarily going to be followed up by precise every-28-days periods. I'd say that's somewhat unlikely, actually.

As a general rule (and this is something that you should discuss with your doctor) you want to be having a period every 3 months or so. Missed periods can be caused by a lot of stuff, such as thyroid or pituitary problems, missed ovulation, PCOS, or very low body fat. You should probably call up an OBGYN and talk to them about it... particularly if you are hoping to have a baby. Many of the things that cause missed periods are not threatening to your health in other ways, but it really should be investigated just in case.

Sounds like it could be either. The first thing to be aware of is that if you didn't have a period from June to December, there is a problem. Sometimes periods can be missed if you have a radical diet change or if you're seriously underweight but if you miss more than 2 or 3 periods, you should see a doctor immediately. It could be a sign of a serious illness. As far as pregnancy, it's obviously a very strong possibility if you had unprotected sex. There's really no way to know what is the cause of your missed period without seeing a doctor or taking a pregnancy test. I would strongly suggest you see a doctor either way because it sounds like there may be a more serious problem. Good luck!

if you are more than 1 or 2 days late with your period, which it sounds like you are, get a home pregnancy test. they are very sensitive and very reliable if you follow the directions. BE SURE to only use the urine you collect when you first get up in the morning. the test will detect pregnancy much faster. if you are not pregnant--are you dieting? if you don't have enough body fat, you will not have enough estrogen in your blood to have a period. your body is trying to tell you something--eat! the body is in starvation mode. when that happens the body ceases to be able to conceive, because it cannot nourish one body, let alone 2, so your periods will stop until you can pick up a little weight.
