I'm thinking about talking a course in website design and I just need some infomation on it first before I decide to do it. How much do they earn? Can I do it from home? Is it difficult to learn? How much of a demand is there for website designers? Does that career have a future?

I agree with the first answer. Realistically, it IS an overcrowded market. But, by no means, don't let me trample on your dreams. If that's what you really want to do - do it! I'm just saying, always look at the realistic side to things.

You have to first assess your own personal situation. Do you have kids? Lots of bills? Where do you live? Who will you market to? etc. You get what I'm saying. :-)

Your best bet is to research this very thoroughly. Then, make an educated decision. Visit your local public library. It will be loaded with information to help you out.

It's very easy to learn but the market is very crowded so you probably wont make a lot of money from doing it. If you want a job in computing you should have a look at Linux. There is high demand for Linux developers and Linux experts and not enough people to fill the jobs.

Windows and web design are over crowded markets.

I do it part-time and it meets my needs. I'm retired and just want spending money so I did a site for a local used car dealer and maintain it for him for $400 a month. If you were eager to bring in more business I am sure you could multiply that. I live in a small town and I know I could if I wanted more.

The secret is to get a niche. Let me know if I can help.
