For an example is it ok to wear a light shaded formal trouser
with a dark striped or dark shaded formal coat in UK ?

Yeah, I'd go for the coat to match with boots/shoes and the contrast of the trousers, depending on shades etc it can look very nice.I personally wouldn't go for a striped coat though, but that's just me, I don't like stripes.

yep!people wear black and white(monocrome is so kool when done right) navy and cream go well! if wearing a dark striped coat though id make sure the light stripe matched the trousers you are wearing!

yes you can... that's the whole point of mixing and matching
you just have to make sure the cut and the pattern of the two do not clash that's all....

yes but i think might look better with the colours the other way around so it gets darker. up to you see how it looks.
