Let's say my ex gets paid on a Thursday, the child support is taken out of his check....approximately what day will I get a check from the state?
(before i even get any responses about being greedy, this is really for my hubby, the support comes out of his check and i'm trying to find out what day his ex will get her check from the state because she wants the money the day he gets paid and i know the state doesn't work THAT fast!!!!)

NJ doesnt do it once a month, they do it weekly (or biweekly if his pay is).

it usually takes a few days to be posted on the states database, then a few days to get to her. so the first check will be slow, and the rest will be right on time for her.

weekends and holidays make payments late also.

tell her to be patient, it's on its way. at least she is getting support, there are a lot of deadbeats out here.

tell your hubby he is a good man, and on behalf of us mommys out here, thank you for being a good example to his children.

some links to help with your situation (some you have to click on your state and find the section you need). a couple are just to help you...

NO, checks aren't sent out only once a month; after withholdng from his check, the employer has seven business days in which to remit the payment to the state disbursement unit; once the state receives the check, the payment generally gets sent out within the next two days. The person receiving child support is looking at a 1-2 week period before the payment taken out of his check is in her hands. It can take awhile to get on the schdule but once paymetns start going out regularly, she wil lreceive them just as regularly, no matter what his pay periods are. If he gets paid weekly, she will as well and the same goes for bi-weekly or monthly.

You are correct. The "clearinghouses" that handle garnished child support pays out once per month. The ex will receive her check when the wages for the month have been pulled. They do not send weekly or bi-weekly payments. They send once per month. She will get it when the state takes the money out, records the payments and cuts her a check. If she has any questions, she needs to contact the clearinghouse directly because it is completely out of your husband's control.
