To install these security update, you must first uninstall and then reinstall the .NET Framework Version 2.0. To do this, follow these steps:
1.Uninstall all existing versions of the .NET Framework from the computer by using Add or Remove Programs in Control Panel. Additionally, uninstall any beta versions of the .NET Framework from the computer. Work backwards from newest to oldest if you have more than one version installed. For example uninstall .Net2.0, then .Net1.1 Fixpack (if present), then .Net1.1.
2.Restart your computer after all uninstalls have completed
3.To install the .NET Framework 2.0, visit the following Microsoft Web site:
http://download.microsoft.com/download/5/6/7/567758a3-759e-473e-bf8f-52154438565a/dotnetfx.exe
4.If you are prompted, restart the computer when the installation is complete.
5.You will have to install the security update again after you reinstall the .NET Framework 2.0

Try installing the updates once again. If they fail, go to the Window Update website at http://update.microsoft.com/microsoftupdate and click Custom. Once it scans your system and presents updates, hide these two updates ("Never show this update again.")

After a month, go back to the Windows Update website, and restore hidden updates. If these two updates remain, try installing them again. But usually they must've already been removed, since, by then a more recent update must be installed.

If possible, please report this problem to Microsoft. The Windows Update website has the link called "Get Help and Support" on the left side.

Some programmes dislike security software like Norton & McAfee if they are active when you try to install an update, so switch off all antivirus software and then install the said programmes, incidentally install one programme at a time then reboot and install the second the same way the system should reboot itself in any case, however make sure after it reboots your antivirus software is running, normally they are but you never know these days.

Best of luck
