at times a home pregnancy test can give u a false negative when u really are pregnant but the chances of getting a positive when you are not pregnant are slim to none because the pregnancy hormone wont show up unless you are pregnant the reason for false negatives is just that there wasnt enough of the hormone if the test your wife took said pregnant then its congratulations daddy.

Pregnancy kits work by identifying a hormone that the body ONLY starts to produce once you are pregnant.

Some tests 'dont work' when they display a negative result because they cant identify the hormone. However, if this has happened with a woman who is in fact pregnant then this is because she hasnt produced enough of the hormone for it to pick up on it yet. If she tested at a later date it is far more likely to turn positive.

If a test picks up the hormone and turns positive then the woman is definately pregnant.

Occassionally women get a positive result followed shortly after by a 'period' which leads them to think the test was inaccurate when in fact this 'period' is actually an early miscarriage. I've heard that when a miscarriage happens this early many women arent even aware that they are miscarrying and just assumes its a period.

So basically if the test is reading positive - and you've taken 2 remember although that shouldnt make any difference - then she is DEFINATELY pregnant. Congratulations!

Well if there both positive then she is pregnant. The chances are very slim that you can get a false positive. If your still unsure then go to the Dr. and get a blood test. Congrats and I hope everything works out/

Most likely she is pregnant. Usually a woman will test negative when pregnant, not positive when not pregnant. Also, if she has taken 2 that came out positive, make a doctor's appt and get ready to be a dad!

No pregnancy test is 100%....I am due to have my second daughter...I didn't find out until I was already 3 months along. I had been taking test after test after test prior to finding out. I had 3 months worth of negatives. I know this doesn't happen with everyone, but there is always a chance.

They are 100 % if they show a positive result .A positive result usually means you are definitely pregnant a negative result doesn't always mean that you are not pregnant though the body just hasn't produced the hormones to show a positive result yet.
Congrats Daddy!!!

the only fault with a home pregnancy test, is the likelihood of a false negative. If it is positive..you might want to start that college fund now. Congrats and Good Luck.

Side note to Karen..unles they draw blood...your local hopital uses the same tests.

Read the box.... 99.7% accurate I believe. It's about 100x less likely to get a false positive then a false negative. If you got 2 positives from 2 different brands. Congratulations daddy!

If you used the test within the time it said to (i.e. 10 mins) then it is impossible to get a false negative unless she is on some very specific fertility drugs, or she has recently had a miscarriage.
Congrats Daddy!
