I just separated from my husband because he is an abuser and a drug addict. I want to raise my daughter in a safe neighborhood. We're moving to San Antonio because I have some family. Any info on areas that are low crime where I can walk down the street at dusk with my daughter and not have to feel worried. I came from Atlanta and it is just too bad there. Any suggestions. Like south side, east side sort of thing. Thanks for all replies.

A poster said that SA was the second safest is actually wrong. I need to go find the website but SA is actually the 2nd worst in crime for city over a million. It's a good thing there's Dallas which always has a huge crime rate. Anyways, I agree with someone here. Look at a map of SA and use this as your border...North of 410, West of I10, and East of 281. I live on the Southside who some think is bad but I grew up here so I feel safe. Most of the crime on the Southside is related to the Mexican Mafia so if you stay out of their way then you're usually safe.

The best place in San Antonio is the Northeast side around Stone Oak Parkway and the Encino neighborhoods off 281 just a little north of 1604. The schools are great and in the five years I lived there, I never had a problem with crime at any time during the day. The school district is Northeast ISD and they have some of the best schools in the city and it is very quite over there. I hoped I helped!

Stay out of the westside and eastside. I don't care how much cheaper the rent will be. The little extra that you might have to pay on either the southside or the northside is well worth the safety of y'all. Crime is all around, though. But don't let that stop you from coming to San Antonio. It's great here. I wouldn't live anywhere else. Me and my husband even tried living in Georgia. We loved it there, but eventually became homesick. Good luck on your journey.

You should stay away from the west side of town (worst area). It will really depend on how much you are able to pay, however the best parts of town are north side from I 10/Loop 410 and east of that to HWY 281. Everything is these areas are usually pretty good, but the further north you go the pricier it gets. Good luck and welcome to Texas!

Most will agree pretty much anywhere on the north part of town is the nicest and safest. I happen to live on the northeast part of town and it's beginning to explode w/ new commerce. Northwest tends to be more congested. The nice thing is pricing for homes and apts don't vary that much.

Northwest side.

I am not sure where we made it on the list this year but San Antonio is/ was the second safest city in USA.

Good luck and God bless on your new start for the new year!

North West and Central are good sides.

anywhere north but preferably north central. Try Boerne. If not, the North Huebner area is nice and there are some nice apartments in that area.
