From a moral point of view - no - a bad thing.

From a political and historical point of view it turned into a good thing for the Allied Forces as it brought America into the war and ensured victory in all arenas. Without the USA it is a moot point whether the Allies would have prevailed.

This totally depends on the way you look at it. From the Japanese stand point this was an impressive attack. Although there has been speculation, there was little warning to the US that Japan was going to attack there. It crippled the US at the sacfrice of their (Japan's) own pilots.

In a way America set itself up for it. I mean you put several aircraft carriers and battleships in one harbor and then cut off ties with Japan commerically and you don't expect some kind of attack is rather stupid of the US. The shocking part about it was that no one believed that Japan could attack Pearl Harbor, b/c of the distance. It would have to be a suicide mission and the US didn't believe that the Japanese would do it.

The Japanese soon realized that they had awaken a sleeping giant would be crushed in the end and we proved it to them.

Battlewise it was impressive, but we won in the end with the atomic bomb and an impressive victory over them in the Pacific front of WWII.

You can't just label the event good or bad. Things have preceptions and you should respect those preceptions.

The attack on Pearl Harbor was what coined the term "Japped".
Getting a Jap Slap is being slapped in the back of the head while you aren't looking. It was a sucker punch that rallied the American people against them, ultimately leading to their demise.

It was bad because hundreds of people died. The men had no warning and had no way to know to defend themselves from an attack. Plus, it crippled our navy at a very trying time.

I think it was a good thing, because of the Americans getting involed in the war. My Grandmother and my Grandfather met. My Grandmother was in a concentration camp the the American soldiers liberated (my Grandfather) thus making it possible for me to live. So you can see why I think world war II was a good thing.

It might be good in some ways, because it was a change for the better. But the whole part about people dying wasn't good.
