3rd base in baseball is considered the Hot Corner. Do you need explanation why?

The "hot corner" is a baseball term.

It is 3rd base.

It is called the "hot corner" because many batters hit line drives right down the third base line.

Also, the third baseman usually plays a little closer to the batter than other infielders (except the pitcher) so the ball can get there in a hurry.

The "hot corner" is third base in baseball. It is called this because when a batted ball is pulled to the left side the third baseman is the closest to the hitter and as baseball evolved there were a predominance of right handed hitters who naturally pulled the ball to the left side. Often the third baseman has only time to react on a hard hit ball...therefore the ball is coming at him "hot".

3rd base...because balls fly down the third base line by right handed hitters. The 3rd baseman does not always have alot of time to react.
