A good costume, in my opinion, would be to dress as a doctor or scientist. You can easily score a good lab-coat, clipboard, and surgical mask from a store like American Science and Surplus. You might even come up with another great costume idea there, and even if you don't get a costume that store is always worth the trip.

I like the condom idea, but that might be a bit racy depending on your school. The monkey idea is good too, for that is the most likely theory, however we are only at the very earliest stages of understanding the origins of HIV and I think the doctor/scientist costume would reflect the fact that AIDS research has really only just begun.

For the most accurate, in my none too humble opinion, try the CDC link below. They're on the front line of the fight against this pandemic and they employ many of the top experts in the country. Good luck.

I really think a costume would detract from the serious nature of the speech.

If you MUST wear one, perhaps dressing as a medical professional would add an air of credibility. But don't go overboard.

A monkey. One of the theories of where AIDS originated was from an African Monkey. Another was from a male flight attendant.

A giant red ribbon would be easy and perfect for the occasion. Loop it behing your head and cross it in front of your chest.

Maybe a suit made out of patches, similar to the famous AIDS quilt...just a thought.

The wearing of black clothes or a black armband, or something in the nature of mourning maybe appropriate.

how about...yourself! there should be no costumes for an aids speech..talk to them seriously....and maybe do a quiz at the end..so they listen to you!
