A lot of factors lead to Ahmed's failure. He did have drug issues and injuries but also many wrestlers stated that he was not protecting them properly when performing moves and was actually hurting people. Once you get a rep like that, it can be hard to bounce back from.

Ahmed was release because he was injury-prone and he had drug problems that kept him from honoring his contract. He was brought back again, and the same thing occurred. He last popped up in WCW around 1999-2000 as the character Big Tony. He had put on some weight and was very limited in what he could do in the ring. Eventually, he was let go from WCW as well due to this.

His contract expired and he didnt really attract a lot of fans like he did in the start of his career. several years after leaving (wwf at the time) he went to wcw in tag competition. He was fing HUGE and his partner was too. He had a huge gut as well though, but you will have that with some guys who bulk up that much. Anyways, same story in wcw, he couldnt get the fan base.
