I'm getting ready to start on Yasmin and i was curious if anyone can tell me anything about it. Does it give you any bad side affects? How big are the pills? I have never been on any kind of birth control pill so any thing you can tell me would be helpful. Also my prescription says two refills, after those run out do you have to have another pap test to get more or do you just tell your doctor? Thanks in advance everyone.

I was on that brand for a short while... They gave me SEVERE migraines, and aweful cramps. My doctor said it was because they were a bit strong for me. Different brands work different for different people... so they could suite you just fine. Yes, once your prescription runs out you should call your doctor... if they are working well for you then you probably won't have to go get another pap.. he will prob just call you in a refill. The pills are small so no worries there... Sometimes it takes awhile to find a Birthcontrol that fits your needs, but you seem to be on the right track!

Most (if not all) BC pills are REALLY small (less than 5mm in diameter). As well, most pills will carry the same precautions and side effects. And each person will react differently to them. If you find one that gives you horrible nausea or something, then you can switch ... but wait 3 months to make sure you're not going to get over it.
For a list of all side effects and things you should be aware of, take the time to read the leaflet that comes with your pills....it will answer most if not all of your questions.

As for the refills, you should have gotten either one month + 2 refills (for three months total) as a trial as outlined above for side effects; or you should have gotten one set of 4 packs plus two more refills for 4 months each. If you are ok on these, then you just call your doc and they'll give you another 9 months worth of refills. You only need to get an exam once a year.

You should start your pills at the next cycle for two reasons. If you're sexually active, you'll have better contraceptive protection if you start then. Also, since you'll be starting with your natural cycle, there won't be so much upset to your system with regard to the hormones being introduced.
