I've seen some questions here about the coming back of aprons. I have a friend who wears one of those frilly and feminine pinafores. It was funny, but, on Christmas, my 14 yo boy, besides a beautiful shirt, gave me, in part to pull my leg but also out of love, an apron like that, one of the sweetest aprons I've ever seen. He told me I'd look much more maternal, motherly in it. Since he's a wonderul boy and I love him dearly, I had no choice other but, even a bit embarrassed, wearing it sometimes. A biologist wearing such apron may be a bit strange, but...And my 12 yo daughter loves to see me in that apron too. I don't think from now on I'll wear frilly aprons at home all the time, though my chidren want me too.
Anyway, does anyone here know of any site where I can get sweet aprons and pinafores?

That is so funny. I'm sorry that I don't know of any websites but I would just like to comment on your statement. I think it is so very sweet that your kids dig this. Just because they gave it to you, that doesn't mean that you have to wear it all the time. Just make sure that you wear it when your doing mommy things in the house. Like baking cookies or making a special meal. That way, your kids get to see you in it and know that you appreciate it, yet you don't have to feel uncomfortable in it as if you were leaving the house in it or something. However, I wouldn't go getting any more aprons. That may hurt their feelings or give them the impression that you don't like the one they gave you. Especially if you are reluctant to wear the one you have. Thank you for the cute story though.

Honestly, it is a toss up! There is not perfect apron, unless made! I made myself a few! I just made myself a pattern, or you can buy one and picked out some "upto date, yet sweet and country style" fabrics and went from there. You can easily pick up your own fabric and take it to a seamstress, she'll be able to make you one, that is to your liking, and probably as much as you'd spend on a decent apron at a department store.
Otherwise check a thrift shop/consignment shop type of place! There is nothing as homey as the ones from when my mommy was young! LOL

I don't know where you can get them but the only reason I can think of wearing an apron for is if you're making something messy like sugar cookies, with all of the flour and such. :o)

I think you should always wear an apron. It is great that you are wearing them and more homemakers are wearing them. Even a career woman looks great in one when she transitions home (I'm a fan of aprons on women!)

www.jessiesteele.com has modern ones
www.kitchenwears.com has old fashioned ones.

No only wear an apron when cooking or cleaning, this way you don't get your clothes dirty and you dont feel like wearing an apron makes you old and like a cleaning lady. Tell your kids, im sure they will understand

I don't think aprons are really necessary....
unless like you're cooking 4a dinner and you're already dressed and you really don't want anything spilling on your clothes
but other than that it's up to you... it's up to you
