$250 million US over five years might have something to do with it. Plus he's tight with Anschutz Entertainment, the owners of the LA Galaxy squad. Plus, he'll be in Tinseltown which suits his on-screen ambitions to a tee. Good fit all around -- he's past his prime, so he'll still be able to look great against the US level of competition which is clearly well below that of Premier/Serie A

It's a perfect move for him. Remember Pele and the NY Cosmos. Now Beckham is no Pele, but he certainly is a football great. His notoriety will help the league, and his quality will make him an MLS standout. He has lost a couple steps over the past years, and why go to a championship or league one side, when he can come over to America and be the toast of the league? Plus teams will have to play a little better football while he's on the pitch, which should only help.

Anyway, good for Becks, and good for us.

He has expressed interest in the US and has said that he loves the country. His career is coming to an end and now is a good time to do what he wants, like playing in the US. He'll get to play, spend time at his Academy, semi-relax, and sort of chill and spend time with his family while still doing the things he loves. It'll also hopefully create some interest in the sport. Plus, he is getting a lot of money out of it, and it's especially a lot for someone who's career wouldn't last much longer in Europe. So, I think this is a good move for him.

The reason David Beckham has signed for the LA Galaxy is for one simple reason: Money. Lots of it. To the tune of 5 years/$250 million. Really, can you blame the guy? If someone offered me that sort of money, I would happily play in the Antartican League and you would too.

that's probably the smartest move in his life (after Ewing with posh spice of course). He will get a lot of money, he will be the best player there and he will get many more opportunities than in Europe because its better to live in the states than i Europe for a star. He will maybe start a actor career etc.
