On an assembly line - the parts are machined, molded, or purchased. Then they're brought together and assembled. The exact process would differ widely between gas and electric trimmers because the differing power sources require significantly different components.

I am a bit stumped as to what you mean. This sort of item is produced on a semi automated production line. This means that some processes are by necessity completed by a human, frequently one of limited mental resources.
