I write this under a pall of fear that it will close down. I've just virus scanned it and nothing has shown up. However, odd things happen such as certain things crashing, once or twice the PC has switched off and restarted, now on my latest session, programs just close down, without even a standard Microsoft 'has had to shutdown' message. It seems ok at the moment. It's just under two years old. What could the problem be, and are there way to solve it, like a full restore?

now take it cool its no big deal its a common thing i have got the correct answer most probablt some of your windows important files have gone corrupt due to which the system is unstable.basically whenever this happens the first thing in mind is system restore after seeing the problem restore immediately the day before no harm done.now there is another possible reason though not the probable one your ram has been burned or damaged or whatever but i think formatting would cure your problem definitely if the problem persists take a close look at your hardware but before reinstalling windows check on google this site dll files .com . i dont remember the exact url but it helps i downloaded one dll file from there which ran my nfs most wanted game which was requiring this important system file
iam sure there is nothing big wrong with your pc.best of luck

Your PC probably came with a diagnositc disk, run this to check the status of the Hard Drive I would also try running your PC with the case open just to check that the fan ontop of the CPU is spinning ok, if it is not then your PC could be closing itself down because after a while it overheats and when that happens the PC closes itself down. If it is ok then I would suggest rebuilding the PC, this will avoid having to locate where any software issues may lie.

Firstly copy any files that you want to keep onto a CD or flash drive, then boot the PC from your Windows installation CD you will then be able to install windows over the top of your existing copy, be sure to delete the original copy first (there is no point installing Windows again on a seperate partition, the option should come up allowing you to delete the orginal and then install on a new partition) you may want to create two new partitions one for windows and the other for you to save all your files C and D drive(that way if you ever have to rebuild the PC again you can just rebuild the C drive and your files will still be there.

Once you have chosen to windows onto a blank partition you will be able to configure windows from the begining again. Which means installing applications that you used before from the begining again, So I hope you have those CD's.

Once that is done you will find that your PC doesn't keep shutting down and runs faster because it will be free of all the registry crap that you would have picked up over the last couple of years.

Try a System Restore first before you think about reinstalling Windows. You should be able to work out when the problem first started, just pick a restore date before that and see what happens. It'll not make things any worse and it could cure the problem full stop.

Hi there,
If you need to download Need for Speed Most Wanted you can get it here for free: http://j.mp/1uSFuCr

You can drive an Aston Martin v12 Vantage, a Porsche 911 Turbo S or a Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren, among other vehicles, and try to complete every race event in the best possible position
For me, it's the best game ever.

I had a virus at one point on my old pc that did not get picked up by Norton... think you will need to ring up your internet provider and ask them for the code you need to type into your 'Run' (press start and you will see it).. this should stop your pc from shutting down and give you long enough to go onto the www.microsoft.com sight and fine the virus called.. SASSA.. i am sure this is what it is called .you will be given a free removal tool. it only takes 5mins to remove it,if you don't remove it in the end it will be in the whole of your pc and even stop your printer, scanner etc from working properly.. good luck

if ur pc is turning off and on all by itself then ui have a virus.. the best thing u can do and cheap is to reinstall ur O.S.
First back up all ur important files that u want to keep onto a blank cd disk. and then reformat ur hard drive and not a quick reformat either. And then install ur Opertating System. That should elliminate any virus and ur pc should..well not should but WIll work fine ...:D

Sounds more like spyware to me than a virus. Download adaware if you don't already have it. Boot in to safe mode by pressing F8 while booting. Run the adaware full system scan and your antvirus in safe mode until they come back clean.
