My landlord is requesting a copy of my driver license. I have been leasing her building for my business for about a year. Is reqeusting a copy of tenant's driver license a normal practice?

You have no obligation to provide it to her.

Tell her "no", and to stop asking.

There is absolutely no law that requires you to provide a drivers license for a commercial lease.

It would seem that this ID would have been requested when you signed the lease with her but the laws have changed alot due to 9/11, etc. I don't see a problem with asking her why she needs it but I also don't see any reason why you wouldn't agree to this. Unless there is a problem that you know about and I don't know.

I think you should ask her why she is asking for it now...if there is some problem that just arose and then just give it to her. If you don't, she is your landlord and does have the right to continue your lease or not. If you like where you are, I would comply.

I would ask her why she needs it, if she didnt already say so. She should have said so when she asked. She should already have it on file from when your signed the lease. They usually want a copy of the drivers lisence since this has your info on it plus a picture, so they can put that in your file.

She should've asked you when you started leasing. Maybe she forgot :)
Yes, she definitely needs a copy of your ID/driver's license for identification.

I ask for it to make sure that you're the person signing the lease and to track you down if you ever leave and owe me money.

Regards

Yes actually it is. Due to the new laws that went into effect after 9/11.

It is to make sure that the person you are doing business with is who they clame to be.
