It all depends on which direction you want to go. Just like everything else in computers web development is no longer a general field. You can get into client side web development, server side application development, coldfusion, ActiveX or PHP, Apache or IIS, You can use Frontpage or Dreamweaver (I prefer the later). You can learn Perl. If you're doing server side stuff you may want to learn server OS, although the OS choice is your own. As far as where the money is I would learn IIS, Apache and Windows Server.

There is just so much to learn I guess my first step would be to learn HTML, DHTML, and CSS. Those three will lead you down the path to learning other stuff.
