Either this is a bold move for the MLS / LA Galaxy or it will be a financial disaster that could bring the entire league down. For 5 years / $250 million, he better be able to generate a LOT of interest in soccer (football) in a country where the sport isn't very popular with people over the age of 14.

What is unusual is that he is coming while he is still at his peak as a player. Usually when players of his stature (i.e. Pele Beckenbaur)come to play here it is at the twilight of their careers and either they want to play a little longer or they have been foolish with their money and they need one more good contract to have some financial security. Like when American baseball players used to go to Japan before retiring permanently.Like Ron White of the Yankees.

I'm glad to hear that he's coming to L.A. My parents live in the same city as where the Galaxy play. I will definitely watch one game, at least, to see him play in person.
