Don't you find the following statement absurd:

"He says he's threatened by her? He's a star athlete. She's 5-foot-2, I think, and 105 pounds," said celebrity New York divorce lawyer Raoul Felder, one of the attorneys representing Joumana Kidd.

If what he is claiming is true, it is disgusting that we still have this idea that women are not capable of terrorizing their husbands in the same way that men can terrorize their wives. Just because a man is bigger doesn't mean his wife cannot be abusive. Some men are just not violent, believe it or not, and are afraid to do anything because she will likely not be arrested or charged.

Here is an interesting survey - more than 60% of women say it's OK to hit your husband, and more than 35% have done so.

Is this not a terrible double standard?

p.s. Yes I know I am about to get a wave of angry people writing me emails....

I completely agree with you. It is outrageous that we as women can demand equality yet expect and actually BE treated so differently to men in these situations.

I find it offensive that some people think that just because I am a woman I couldn't do damage to a man to the point of even killing him in a violent rage. I know I am just as capable and that I ought to live by and be judged by the same laws and standards as a man. That being the case I feel that I would deserve the same punishment as a man should I commit the same crime, be it violent, sexual or otherwise.

I hope that there is a change on it's way where equality for women is actually equality and not a way of being above men or a way of seeking revenge for some very general and possibly imagined slight against women that has been spoonfed to us for generations from many sectors of society.

We are not the weaker sex and it's time we stopped playing it, sucked it up and embraced being women. We have to accept that to gain anything we have to work for it. Nothing should be handed to us on a plate, we are NOT entitled by t!ts.

Karma.

Actually I don't find it absurd, domestic violence perpetrated by women is more common that most believe, it's under reported and not discussed because of the shame it brings to the victims.
I find the double standard absolutely disgusting, our judicial system just perpetuates it. They might as well just say it's okay to rape, hit, and molest...as long as you are a woman. Look at the Debra Lafave case, she molested a little boy and didn't even have to do time! The judicial system in this country is a joke, it just makes me sick.

You have to applaud the guy for standing up to criticism about not being "man enough" and being abused by his wife. I think it takes some guts for a guy to say that a woman is beating him. SHE needs some serious counseling!

I'm not a small woman at 5'9" and 130 pounds, but when my ex-husband used to hit me, I used to beat the **** out of him back. He learned NOT to hit me pretty early on. I always felt terrible that I had to hurt him physically to get him to stop hitting out of anger. Why are people so mean to one another? And these are people who supposedly LOVE each other?

I have to agree with you. I am not a small woman but my husband is bigger. However, I know him, he is gentle, even if I hit him, which I would never do, he would not retaliate, he would never hit a woman even if she was attacking him. And some women do take advantage of that.

As I suffered kin violence on the palms of my ex hubby i will honestly say what you assert is a crock of crap. He used the excuse he does no longer permit bypass of me whilst he replaced into beating the residing crap out of me in case I hit him returned. it relatively is purely an excuse to make somebody think of the violence is their fault. "i assumed you have been going to hit me so I strangled you till you surpassed out". i'm no longer a small woman yet he replaced into two times my length and two times my weight are you honestly attempting to tell me that he replaced into afraid i might injury him or needed me to think of him the sufferer so he ought to maintain on his cycle of abuse? It messed my head up for a protracted time questioning it replaced into my fault he hit me yet now i understand he's a sorry son of a ***** with a undesirable temper and a drink concern.

I'm not a small dude, but I was married before, and that witch used to hit me and throw stuff at me, bite me, etc. Doesn't matter how big the guy is, if he hits back, he's going to jail.
