When you are on probation, they give you very specific rules about moving. When you move, it is your responsibility to make sure that the police in the new town have your probation files. I hate to sound cold, but I would let him sit in jail. You worked hard for that money, you didn't make your uncle make the bad decisions that he has made in his life. Your uncle is an adult, he needs to start acting like one.

While you may want to help your uncle, I can understand your parents not wanting you to use your savings. I don't know your uncle, but you say he's already on probation? So this isn't his first contact with law enforcement? They may be thinking that he's an adult and whatever trouble he's in, he brought on himself. It's really easy to blame someone else for not forwarding his records, but it was his responsibility to make sure that it was handled properly if he was moving. It doesn't become your responsibility to solve his problem. I don't understand that if it were simply a matter of his records being forwarded, why isn't that happening? Why would he be sent to a different prison? Are you sure you have been told all the facts? Maybe your folks are "protecting" you from the whole truth of why he's in jail?

I wouldn't worry about serving time for a $400 fine, if that all it is. So, he'll spend the weekend in some jail and get a good lawyer and sue the original Town for harmful indifference, nonfeasance of duty, and ...whatever?

Most localities don't like putting people behind bars. Too costly. Write a letter to the judge, the attorney of record, the local newspapers and also try to raise the necessary amount of money to get your uncle out of jail.

Don't worry. He'll be o.k. and everything will work out. Sounds like a stupid decision/reason to be putting someone behind bars...As a taxpayer, I am outraged to hear of this.

Don't spend your money getting your uncle out of jail. He could have taken responsibility himself and made sure that his files were sent. If your parents can get the money together, great. However, if they can't then your uncle will have to go back for a bit. He'd also go before a judge so he'll have the opportunity to explain himself. Next time he'll be more proactive.

Your parents know how hard it is to save money, and also know that it took you quite a while to get the $300 you have now. They're really not trying to be mean, but they would rather get the money another way. You should tell them to try that Check into Cash, if they have a checking account. All they have to do is write a postdated check in the amount they want, and for a small fee, they will advance them the money.
Well, hope it helps.

well your parent need to get him a lawyer if they have no money court appointed and have the lawyer check into why the files weren't sent, to the new town. he could be in trouble for violation of probabtion the reason they don't want you to use your money is because this is no of your concern. If you were 18 you may have a say so but you are still considered a minor.

Explain your parents, that if bail is paid, he will be put into jail and they can return the money to you when they get it.

if hes hasnt violated any kinda probation the paper work should be easy to receive from the courts, from what i know of law if you move and your on probation you need to contact your probation officer and the court to let them know you are moveing and they have to give the ok for you to change living areas.it may be out of your hands and he didnt follow the proper procedure but if he just lacked the paper work it will work itself out i know it will.so haold on to the cash and wait till he sees a judge.

that's really considerate of you...but im sure your parents dont want to use your money because they feel its up to them to come up with the cash...see how they go...but if they can't make the $400 then tell them to take your money and if they feel bad about that...tell them that they can pay you back when they can
