Yeah alot of people have argued over whether it is him or Jerry Orbach (Lennie Briscoe on "Law and Order"). Franz's character (Sipowicz) had a bit more depth in nature because of the "NYPD Blue" writing style in which we saw him at home and his personal life and struggles. On the other hand Orbach didn't have anything of the personal or deep character stuff in hus "L & O" style that Dick Wolf created it. A lot of people loved him for his one liners, wit, and interviewing of witnesses/suspects/others. These are the two MODERN (80s-Present) cop show stars that are the most beloved

He is great - hard, doesn't stand for any nonsense, follows thourgh on cases but is caring and compassionate too, and puts his family first. You know you gotta like him for his personality, because his looks just don't cut it!
We are coming up to the final few episodes of NYPD Blue in the UK and it'll be really sad when it finishes. It has been so good for so long.

Yes I do. He was human, he was hard nosed but he also had a heart. I was glad in the last episode they made him LT of his squad.
