Does it really matter other than you woud have a better view on a sunny day?

cloudy or ptly cloudy is better, because the glare makes it difficult to see

i would prefer a sunny day when the sun is not too scorching...then you cannot see whales clearly due to glare.....and i would prefer cloudy day where it is not too gloomy...
and rain would surely spoil the event....

actually I think just a little overcast might be better because the sun reflecting off the water might make it tougher to see anything going on
