Did you know that the Pledge of Allegiance is no longer said in schools? I just found this out yesterday. WTF is going on with this country? No wonder we can't elect a good president!! Next, there will be no National Anthem sang at sports events. What are your views on this? I think it's pretty fukced up.

I don't need your criticism either. I haven't paid attention to what was going on in schools until my son started. Everyone isn't a smartass like you wahhh baby.

I think we need to drop all this racism in america and blacks whites and any other color of americans need to join together and take back the country. The government should fear its people, not laugh at them.

I don't know where you got your information...
I have 2 kids in school, and both schools say the pledge every day. My own kids don't say "under god" (the addition to the pledge made in the 1950's as a ridiculous reponse to "godless communism"), but they say the rest of it along with everyone else.

Personally I don't think the pledge is any big deal -- like any other memorized slogan, it's a poor attempt at brainwashing. I teach my kids to love their country, and to fiercely value the freedoms that have been so hard won, but not that America is #1 in everything and everybody else sucks. The only way we're going to solve our problems is to face up to them and find solutions, not ignorantly scream how great we are while the rest of the world happily passes us by. Blind patriotism is neither useful nor intelligent.

I knew it awhile ago! I guess they figure if we can't pray in school why should we say the pledge of allegiance. Or maybe it's because we have so many different nationalities in our schools they don't feel right making the others say our pledge of allegiance even though they should! But yes I agree with you, it is ****** up!

It depends on where you are located. The schools in my area, still pledge the flag and they still have prayer before the football games. In my opinion, what we are seeing is a decline in democracy. We have misunderstood and mistreated rights and freedoms to the point that we will allow things to be stopped in order not to infringe on others. What happens is eventually, we create a society that has no firm foundation in nothing. No patriotism for country. No love for God. When that happens it will be the ending of democracy as we know it and the beginning of a weakness that we have never felt.

We have two pledges in Texas. One is the Pledge of Allegiance; the other is the Texas Pledge. Then there is a moment of silence where students and teachers can pray or think their sinister thoughts. This is how every school day begins.

I have to agree with "KEV M", most Americans have lost the will to keep our leaders in check. We must not forget the "Bill of Rights", and our responcibilty to keep it intact. Many documents have been altered in the dead of night - behind closed doors, without anyone being aware of such changes until it's done. When EVERYTHING is altered and prices of goods are set out of the range of the "working stiff", taxes and health care are unattainable and Bankruptcy is at an all time high,... who owns everything and has ALL the power? 1/10 of one percent of the Population...that's who. By the way... that's who makes all the changes. People made this country, people need to come together to make the changes.

My child's public school still says it every morning. I believe it is optional for the schools and if they opt to say it, they allow students the option to participate or not.

HOWEVER:

In California there is a district that has a program where the students are given new MUSLIM NAMES, are issued PRAYER RUGS and HONOR THE CALL TO PRAYER while reciting a real MUSLIM PRAYER. This is done for several weeks and it is suppose to create "AWARENESS" for the students.

Why is THAT OK and saying our PLEDGE isn't?

The ACLU is what's wrong woth America.
They hate christians! (With their war on christmas)
They hate patriotism! (They can't stand the pledge or anthem)
They love illegal immigrants! (They spend more money protecting the "rights" of illegals instead of citizens)
They love pedophiles! (NO JOKE!!! THE ADVOCATE FOR LOWERING THE AGE OF CONSENT TO 12!)

I wish none of this was true, but these are the things the ACLU stand for.

I don't see the big deal with the Pledge of Allegiance, I always hated doing that every morning in elementary school. Not only that, it kind of discriminates the people who don't believe in God or have some sort of problem with the pledge. If I'm not mistaken, my Jehovah's Witness classmate would refuse to do the pledge.
