my 1997 Vauxhall Vectra has engine ECU light on during driving. I had diagnose from specialist dealer and he told it said fault code 02 and need to replace sensor and even possibly change whole ECU box. What was the problem of my car?
How much it will be chaning ECU box?

80% of the time on petrol Veectras, the engine management light comes on due to a faulty crank position sensor. These are relatively inexpensive and easy to fit.

you would pay about a grand to replace the ecu a a dealer. (twice the value of your car!) its all bullsh**. That light will come on time and time again on most modern cars, usually a faulty sensor, but costs £100 a go at the dealers just for them to say "i think it was..". Remember they are NOT fixing your car, just restting the code faults. Once it starts coming on, just sell it. dont get caught in the trap of taking it to the dealers repeatedly, very expensive. BUy an onlder car that doesnt have sill ecus and poxy lambor sensors.

ECU cost bout £400, not cheap. Replace the o2 sensor and then see if the fault is still occuring.

Hi there can you clarify if it was the fault code 02 or that the O2 sensor was faulty ? this could make a lot of difference to the problem
