From parents, teachers, christians, and other groups, people everywhere dislike myspace. It's only a friends site, why is everyone so concerned?

Corrupted by what world? Having friends and talking to people? For some it's a competition, for others, like myself, I knew myspace before it was ever publicly explisited, I think people ruined myspace, not Tom or his content.

Of course, yes people are dumb, and I do believe that their are some people that need a hudge slap in the face for posting phone numbers and adresses. But alot of the "kinks" are being fixed to where you have to verify this and you can set your profile to private, ect.

MySpace, like any other internet forum (including this one), was intended to be just that: a friendly site. However, people that are going to be ignorant are going to be that way in any format.
Much like how there are people on here that have turned Yahoo! Answers as their newest way of insulting others to make themselves feel better about their own lowly existence, people on MySpace do it all of the time. If everyone used MySpace as it should be and stuck to communicating with their friends and posting information about each other, no one would have any issues with it. The minute the children in school began using it as a public billboard to insult and even threaten others, it began receiving heat from the groups that you mentioned above.
Believe me, I love MySpace, however, when we're all parents, we'll understand why these people have such an issue with it now.

Because it's easier to blame others than be a parent and keep an eye on what your kids do. MySpace is not the only site of that type on the internet, it is just the current popular one. Parents won't go out and leave their kids home alone, but they will let them on the internet for unmonitored hours on end, and then blame MySpace when pedophiles respond to little 13 year old Sally's interest in meeting new guys. If little Sally did not post her real name, hometown, school name, and her desires to find an experienced guy to lose her virginity to, there would very few MySpace related problems. The real problem is no one wants to be a parent anymore. It's easier to let their kids run wild on the internet than to supervise what they are doing.

Have you seen the web design?
It's NOT only a friends site. Absolutely anyone can have a myspace page. Very famous [orn stars have myspace pages. Pedophiles do searches for kids who aren't smart enough to avoid putting personal information on their page.
All you have to do is say your actual name, the city you live in, and the school you go to, and you are instantly a possible victim to someone who wants to hurt you.
You may only see your friend's myspace pages, and maybe that's why you think it's just for friends.
But it's a much bigger website that that. Just because you don't see those other pages doesn't mean they aren't there.

I don't think it's horrible at all. You CAN set it to Private and only your friends that you allow to be friends can view your profile. My kids have a myspace and I had a long talk with them on what they can and can't post on their myspace and they do have to keep it Private. I also have their password so I can check up on them. Yeah, there are kids on there that give out lots of Private info and maybe their parents don't know that they have a myspace or they just don't care.

Because of what people have done with it. Now MySpace even makes the news for being one of the most well-known raunchy sites for teenagers to expose themselves on. Most people that get attacked my pedophiles are just asking for it, by posting such material and giving away street addresses.

Because there is evil in this world and it uses MySpace as a medium to expolit the evil that exists within its users. MySpace can be dangerous with people spreading viruses, pedophiles, and just uncensored material for anyone to find. I see a lot of "adult only" areas of MySpace.

Pedophiles have been known to get on it. And some children who think they are safe are doing stupid things by contacting and meeting people they dont' even know. Partially it's society that has deemed it to be bad as well by reporting all of the negatives to the news and to the law enforcement. I don't have it and I don't care for it too much. That's just me though.
