It's really werid because when I am reading on a plane or something sometimes people walk up to me (or the person sitting next to me ) will say 'Oh, I didnt know you knew how to read'. They think because most african americans are portrayed to speak slang that there is a problem with it. They always ask me is my brother my child and its a good thing I am staying in school. (they think I am his mom) Why do people automically aussume because you are a certain race you do things portayed on tv.

Yes, it does happen to other races.

Because some people think everything seen on TV is real.

First I don't know if someone would have the nerve to ask such a question. "'Oh, I didnt know you knew how to read".
I guarantee you it may be something else that would trigger such a question. But I doubt it it's got something to do with race. Unless you are dressed like a caveman looking all ancient! something like that.
May be you looked too young to be reading the kind or type of book you were reading.

Cause they are ignorant and stupid. take my word for it.

I'm African American and people sometimes ask me if my kid brother is my CHILD?!? Like are you kidding me? I'm only 10 years older than that kid.

cuz they are ignorant,dont worry about what they think,if they were as educated as they think they are,they wouldnt be making such stupid comments to people based on their background
