Go early 90's with Soundgarden or Goldfinger. Both are classics and I loved them before I started listening to the Peppers and Foo Fighters.

There is plenty of bands...
Might want to try: Creed, Audioslave, Staind. These are my favourite...

Hope you like some of their music if you get a chance to listen to them.
