Sopranos usually only has 13 episodes a season....
They played 12 episodes early last year... and will play 6 or 7 more episodes sometime this Spring..
I am not sure if those episodes will be considered as part of the 6th season or the 7th season....

Season 6 for Sopranos aired in March of 2006. However, only 12 episodes were shown.
The remaining 8 episodes will begin on April 8, 2007. You can call this season 7 or the second part of season 6, it really doesn't matter.

There is 6 seasons of the sopranos total. The one starting this year is just a continuation of season 6. Its the "Final Episodes"

I believe it is going on season 7 this year.
